Embedding the Memorial in the Activities on the Peat Factory Site

The peat factory site, which since the end of peat extraction has been preserved in its last operating condition, is to be developed into an information centre. Here visitors to the Himmelmoor peat bog will learn about the industrialisation of peat extraction, about the peat bog with its fauna and flora, the climate effectiveness of moors and renaturation measures. They can also take a ride on the peat train. The future memorial matches this context perfectly.

In close cooperation of "Träger- und Förderverein Henri-Goldstein-Haus e.V." with the other associations involved here, "Förderverein Himmelmoor e.V.“ www.foerderverein-himmelmoor.de  and „Arbeitsgemeinschaft Torfbahn Himmelmoor e.V.“ www.torfbahn-himmelmoor.de and the association "Freunde des Waagehauses Himmelmoor e.V." www.waagehaus-himmelmoor.de an overall concept for the peat factory site was developed that is currently being coordinated with the Quickborn administration and its political bodies.
