Restoration

The Henri-Goldstein-Haus is located on the former company premises of the peat plant at Himmelmoorstraße 4 in a one-storey building. There is a large room for the prisoners, a former sickroom, sanitary rooms and accomodation for the guards and the camp commandant.


In order to make the Henri-Goldstein-Haus accessible as a memorial the building, including all ist rooms, must be restored to its original state, so that visitors can feel what it was like back then.

Renovation Details


The careful renovation is not change the original character of the building. It includes a number of trades which are listed here in note form.


  • The roof needs to be sealed.
  • The missing ceiling in the prison room is to be installed again.
  • The lattice windows need to be renovated.
  • The existing floors must be preserved.
  • The doors need to be renovated and realigned.
  • The existing electrical installation must be renewed.
  • The existing sanitary installations will be repaired, their use o as a toilet is not intended.
  • The heating will be, as formerly, with stoves.
  • The roof will be examined, the word HELP is said to have been written there in white towards the end of the war.
