The Henri-Goldstein-Haus memorial is located on the site of the peat works in Quickborn´s Himmelmoor.

Opening hours for 2026
The Henri-Goldstein House is open from April to October on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Special openings are possible by appointment.

The next steps are the renovation of the building's interior, the planning of a permanent exhibition, strengthening cooperation with schools, and research on peat extraction in the Himmelmoor. Historian Dr. Karsten Wilke researched the history of commercial peat extraction in the Himmelmoor from the Weimar Republic to the present day on behalf of the Henri Goldstein House association. The book will be published in 2026.


MEMORIAL SITE REGULATIONS

1. Please conduct yourself in a manner appropriate to the dignity of the site and its historical significance.
2. Please be considerate of other visitors. Guardians, teachers, and group supervisors are responsible for the behavior of the individuals they accompany.
3. Visiting the memorial is only recommended for children under 12 when accompanied by a trusted adult.
4. Visitors are liable for any damage caused by their behavior. Guardians or supervising adults are responsible for damage caused by unattended children.
5. There is no winter maintenance on the grounds of the memorial. Depending on the weather, snow and icy conditions may occur. In areas with trees, there is a possibility of falling branches during and after strong winds. Please exercise caution and stay on the paths. The liability of the sponsoring association of the Henri-Goldstein-Haus Quickborn memorial for damages caused by negligence, for force majeure, and unforeseen events is excluded. 
6. Please avoid unnecessary noise. We ask that mobile phones be set to silent on the former camp grounds and inside the memorial. 
7. Dogs must be kept on a short leash throughout the memorial site. Bringing dogs into the interior spaces of the memorial is not allowed (exception: assistance dogs). 
8. Bringing other animals onto the memorial grounds is not permitted. 
9. Eating, drinking, and smoking are not allowed on the former camp grounds. Smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas. The consumption of food and beverages is forbidden in the memorial's rooms. 
10. Photography and filming for private purposes are permitted, provided that other visitors are not disturbed and the rights of third parties are not violated. 
11. The following actions require approval from the members of the memorial site: 
- Photo, film, and audio recordings for commercial use 
- Photo, film, and audio recordings during guided tours
 - Interviewing visitors and staff 
- Distribution and display of printed materials 
 - Holding events, commercial offerings, and artistic performances 
- Driving any type of vehicle on the premises (exception: wheelchairs and other mobility aids) 
- Carrying banners and flags. 
12. The sponsoring and supporting association Henri-Goldstein-Haus Quickborn e.V. reserves the right to exercise its house rules.


The volunteer staff of the memorial site are instructed to enforce the memorial site regulations. They are authorized to give behavioral instructions.
Anyone who does not comply may be asked to leave the memorial site.
By visiting, you acknowledge the rules of the memorial site regulations.

ANTI-DISCRIMINATION CLAUSE

The Henri Goldstein House Quickborn Memorial was established in 2022 as a reminder of the living and to honour the memory of the victims of the 1416 prisoner of war camp in Quickborn's Himmelmoor. Due to this special purpose of dedication, visitors are prohibited from making right-wing extremist, racist, anti-Semitic, classist and sexist statements in speech, writing or gestures throughout the memorial site. It is also prohibited to disparage human freedom and dignity (Article 1 of the Basic Law) in word, writing or gestures, as well as to use signs and symbols that stand in the spirit of anti-constitutional or unconstitutional organisations or represent them. In particular, the wearing of any right-wing extremist license plates is not permitted. This also applies to the wearing of garments whose production or distribution can be located in the right-wing extremist spectrum.

 

The volunteers of the Henri Goldstein House Memorial are instructed to enforce  the basic rules for visiting the memorial site.  They are accordingly authorised to issue orders of conduct. 
Anyone who does not follow these can be excluded from visiting the memorial.
