The Memorial "Henri-Goldstein-Haus"

Since 2020, the Förderverein has had access to the building and has been commissioned with the planning and construction of the "Henri-Goldstein Haus" memorial. At the same time, questions of financing, sponsorship and responsibilities are being worked out together with the city of Quickborn. Above all, the memorial is intended to provide information about the living and working conditions of those who carried out peat extraction before and especially during the Nazi era.

To this end, the following activities are envisaged:

  • a permanent exhibition that visitors can visit independently
  • Guided tours that give an outline of history
  • Information material, from the information sheet to the book
  • Events such as lectures, workshops or discussion forums with guest speakers on current topics, as well as concerts.

March 25, 2022

Grant notification from the state allows the renovation  of the Henri-Goldstein-Hause to begin.

Since March 22nd, 2022, the Henri Goldstein House has also been officially a memorial and a monument of national cultural significance  (according to a decision of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments Schleswig-Holstein of February 28, 2022)

With a ceremony in the presence of many supporters of the Henri Goldstein House, State Secretary Dr. Oliver Grundei, responsible for science and culture of the state of Schleswig Holstein, handed over the grant notification in the amount of 200,000 euros to the chairman of the Henri-Goldstein-Haus e.V. association, Jens-Olaf Nuckel. We have now reached our primary goal, the recognition as a memorial. We have deleted the addition "Memorial in planning" as of today.
